The Gutierrez kitchen was a big room with original honey-oak cabinets, laminate counters and a small breakfast bar. The family cooks a lot and wanted an island the whole family could sit at, plus far more storage.
The two-tone cabinet scheme keeps the big room from feeling stark, and the island became the center of the house.
