shower caddies

Is your shower caddies add up with rust which is complex to clean or remove off?

Upon the continuous use of the shower caddies, it is possible that it can get prone to rust due to the interaction with water and minerals. But right through our guide, you will see a simple tutorial for removing rust from it without any hassle and that too at home. Let’s have a look.

Step by Step Guide on How to Remove Rust from Shower Caddies

Important Things Required

  1. Sponge
  2. Water
  3. Baking soda
  4. Salt
  5. Lemon juice
  6. White vinegar
  7. Steel wool or nylon scrubber

Now let’s check the step by step guide on how you can easily clean rust from it:

Step no 1: Detaching shower caddies

To effectively clean the caddies, you have to, first of all, get them removed from the main wall. If the caddy is already installed, then it might get complicated to clean. Once you have detached the unit, you can expect a successful cleaning of the shower.

Step No 2: Start the cleaning of the caddy

Use the regular cleaning spray for removing the rust from shower caddies. Take a sponge or a soft cloth for drying the caddy.

Step no 3: Spray it with white vinegar

Once you have removed the dust and dirt, you have to spray ½ cup of white vinegar over those rusted areas of shower caddies that need cleanliness. It would help if you also considered covering all the rusting areas with the baking soda after cleaning it with the vinegar solution.

To make a thick paste, mix water, as well as baking soda and apply it on the chrome surface of shower caddies. Allow it to dry for a few hours or overnight, and then scrub it off with a nylon scrubber to remove the rust stains.

Step no 4: Rinsing the shower caddies with lukewarm water

Upon the removal of all stains, give your caddies with lukewarm water. After the rinsing, you have to rub all the rust areas of shower caddies using a soft cloth.

Step no 5: Using Car Wax or Chrome

Most shower caddies are available with chrome plating, which brings a shiny and smooth feel to the caddies. To add it with extra shine, you can hence use regular car wax or chrome wax. Sprinkle just a few of the wax drops on the sponge and hence rub the shower gently.

Step no 6: Wipe off wax

At last, by using a lint-free cloth, you have to wipe off the wax from it. You should avoid using any regular cloth because the small pieces of the little lint can get stuck over it and make them look terrible.

Conclusion

Follow the step-by-step guidelines we mentioned for you above and let your shower get a complete removal from rust, dirt, or dust. Make it look brand new and shiny all over again with regular cleanliness.
