Russel Bathroom Remodel

A bathroom remodel in Bakersfield: primary bath with a freestanding tub and slate shower

Project by Coast Design & Build, licensed general contractor #881254. Bathroom remodeling in Bakersfield | All projects

Before

The Russel bathroom had a garden tub set into a tiled deck under the windows and a small framed shower. The homeowners wanted the opposite: a big shower and a freestanding tub they would actually use.

What we did

  • Shower: enlarged walk-in shower in dark slate-look tile with a pebble floor, rain head, handheld sprayer, niche and frameless glass.
  • Tub: white freestanding soaking tub with a floor-mounted brushed-nickel filler, placed under the windows where the old deck tub was.
  • Floor and walls: gray wood-look plank tile floor and a dark feature wall behind the tub and shower.
  • Details: teak bench and stool, new blinds and updated lighting.

The result

The dark tile and white tub make the bathroom feel like a boutique hotel, and the new shower is nearly twice the size of the old one.
